It’s hard to remember life before Australia’s bathhouse boom. From historic mineral springs and rooftop hot tubs to floating saunas and sleek steam rooms, Aussies have officially plunged into a brand-new era of wellness. Now, one of the nation’s most luxurious bathhouses is upping the game entirely with two brand-new, nature-led experiences.
Opened in autumn 2025, Sol Elements made waves as Australia’s first floating bathhouse and wellness destination. Perched on the lake’s edge in the heart of the Gold Coast Hinterland, the secluded sanctuary features thermal hot pools, ice baths, a cedar-wood sauna, botanical steam room, scrub suite, salt cave and an open-air fire pit that descends below the lake. Pretty much, everything you need to reach peak zen.
Now, Sol Elements has expanded beyond the main bathhouse with two new wellness experiences worth crossing the country for. The first is a standalone couples massage and alchemy suite. Positioned right on Lotus Lake and surrounded by subtropical rainforest, this private oasis incorporates sound and vibration therapy into its massage and other bespoke treatments. We reckon it sounds like the perfect setting for an uber-relaxing gals’ getaway, anniversary escape or mother-daughter pamper session.
On top of this, founders Russell and Shae Raven have unveiled the Gold Coast’s first floating sound and ceremony platform. On the still waters of the lake in front of Sol’s main bathhouse, it creates a calming backdrop for sound baths and ceremonial rituals that guests can experience while floating in the warm mineral pools. Plus, it will serve as a go-to destination for floating tea ceremonies inspired by ancient Japanese traditions.
“The intention of the platform is to bring sound, water and nature together, moving beyond a beautiful backdrop and instead bringing Lotus Lake into the overarching wellness experience,” says Shae.
“Due to demand, we may also be looking at expanding Sol Elements into another Australian destination and internationally in future, but that’s a story for another day,” she adds.
Sol Elements is located on Mount Tamborine, a relaxed 50-minute drive from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. It’s open from 9am daily, and we suggest booking well in advance.
