Mark your calendars: the Wynyard Tulip Festival is set to bring thousands of flower lovers to Tasmania on October 10

Can you smell that? Spring is so close you can practically smell the tulips and blossoms in the air. Across Australia, floral festivals like Canberra’s Floriade and Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers are gearing up to bloom. But down in Tasmania, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest tulip field is preparing to welcome visitors for the annual Wynyard Tulip Festival – a massive, one-day flower fiesta on October 10.
Set in the beautiful Gutteridge Gardens on the banks of the Inglis River – a two-hour drive from Launceston – the Wynyard Tulip Festival is one of North-West Tasmania’s biggest celebrations. Having launched more than three decades ago, this major event now draws more than 20,000 visitors to the Table Cape region each spring. Best of all, it’s free to attend!
In 2026, Wynyard Tulip Festival lands on Saturday, October 10, with activities running from 11am to 9pm. This perfectly aligns with peak bloom at Table Cape Tulip Farm, which is believed to be the largest tulip field in the Southern Hemisphere. Free shuttle buses will run every 30 minutes from the main festival hub in Gutteridge Gardens straight to Table Cape Tulip Farm (9am to 5pm). Note: While the festival is free, you need to pay to enter the Tulip Farm ($18 for adults, $4 for kids).
While the tulips are the star of the show, festivalgoers can also look forward to a packed program of free, local entertainment at Gutteridge Gardens, including live music, carnival rides, and 100 local market stalls and food trucks selling all kinds of creative and edible delights.
If you can’t make it to the festival, your Keukenhof dreams are still within reach. Table Cape Tulip Farm welcomes visitors for its peak spring season daily from September 26 until late October (9am to 5pm), offering hectares of colourful fields in full bloom alongside an impressive indoor display of floral arrangements.
