Aussies are a bit obsessed with travelling to China right now. In the past year, the East Asian country surged to become Australia’s fifth-most popular overseas destination. While the introduction of 30-day visa-free travel has played a major role, expanded flight paths are keeping momentum high. And this spring, the siren call grows even stronger with brand-new flights launching to Guiyang – China’s “Forest City,” famous for its urban mountain landscapes and cool summer climate.

From October 26, Scoot will commence three weekly flights to Guiyang, the capital of China's Guizhou province, via Singapore. One-way fares start at just $270 from Perth or $300 from Sydney and Melbourne.

Nicknamed China’s “Forest City” for its lush urban trees and mountain parks woven into the skyline, Guiyang is a dream for outdoor adventurers. By day, you can hike leafy trails and see hundreds of wild monkeys in Qianlingshan Park, or travel southwest to Huangguoshu Waterfall, one of the largest in Asia. The best part? Perched 1,100 metres above sea level, the city enjoys a mild summer climate while the rest of Asia swelters through mid-year heat.

While Guiyang delivers big on adventure, it’s also rich in cultural experiences. You can stroll the 600-year-old stone alleys of Qingyan Ancient Town (one of the best-preserved historical towns in China), marvel at the Ming-dynasty Jiaxiu Pavilion illuminated at night, and feast on sweet-and-sour street food at the bustling Qingyun Market.

Alongside the new Guiyang route, Scoot will increase its flight frequencies across the Asia-Pacific region, adding extra services to Phuket, Clark, Hat Yai, Kota Kinabalu, Okinawa and Tiruchirappalli. Flights from Australia to Guiyang are available to book via Scoot now. The total flight time ranges from 16 to 36 hours, so we reckon you'll want to make the most of your stopover in Singapore!
